Development

Each baby develops in their own way according to their aptitudes. The Baby Sense™ development pages are guidelines about what you can expect from your baby at each stage.

Remember not to focus on early developmental milestones as indicators of aptitude. Development is frequently on a par with other babies by the time a baby reaches 2 years old. In other words, just because your baby walks at 9 months it does not mean that he is going to be an exceptional runner or sportsman.

Milestones can be useful to help you lookout for certain early warning signs of developmental problems, such as stiffness, severe language delay, lack of eye contact and extreme fussiness to name a few.

The concept behind watching your baby's development is to help you understand what your baby can do and how to stimulate him. Remember most importantly to enjoy your baby.
