Difficulty in getting baby back to sleep
| Q: | Recently I saw Megan speak twice in New York City and she was very helpful. I have the book and cd, however, I am still having issues with my 5 1/2 month old son. The day sleep is much better but the nights have been difficult, I have tried all your suggestions but the only thing that seems to get him back to sleep is the bottle and I know this is wrong. Can you give me any advise and do you know of anyone in the New York area that can help me - like a sleep specialist, baby nurse, etc.?

| A: | It is hard from your email to ascertain exactly how often he is having a bottle. Try the following steps:- Make sure he is not over stimulated or over tired during the day – he should be having 3 – 4 day naps
- Move his bedtime to 7pm at the latest with a 1 hour calming bedtime routine.
- Make sure he is eating solids – fruit and veg at this stage
- If he is drinking his daily milk and the solids, you can expect him to sleep from 7pm to 3 or 4am. If he wakes at around those times, feed him quietly in his room. He will drop this night feed once protein is introduced after 6 months.
- If he wakes before this time, offer cool boiled water not milk
